Disable background noise

Trying to get back into starmade again and... whatever that constant whrrr of space (Ambient background noise), ambient noise is still the biggest turn off for me when playing. Is there anyway to disable it? Otherwise I'm stuck playing the game muted because of it. Honestly I have no idea how people play with it on.

Honestly the only sounds in this game is the one you talk about and cannon shots. Cannon shots stop after you shoot a few times. You loose exactly nothing if you play muted. That sound that annoys you, you only hear near or while you are inside a core.

Edit: Oh, I forgot about the annoying whoosh-whoosh every time you use a menu. Nothing to loose if you mute the game, anyway.

I have sound permanently muted in Starmade. The only sound there is, is the "rrr" near ships and thats not really something I get anything from. Feels like having tinitus all time.
