Did you know Star-made is portable?

It occured to me not everyone would think to try this but I have a usb adapter with a micro sandisk (transflash) card and a copy of Star-made on it. I shoved onto the same card a copy of the 1.6 and 1.7 offline java installs and some of the drivers from ATI and nVidia. All in all it's about 2gb worth of stuff. And it's cross platform (except the drivers and java installs) since all I need to do is use the right launcher. Linux usually requires some tweaks to include the mounted device as part of /home (or you can just copy it to the drive and back when you're done). The idea is you keep all your bps and even your sp universe no matter where you go.

For my laptop and desktop I use dropbox. That way the universe gets updated between the computers i play it on. Its pretty handy

install java portable in subdir \"java32\" or \"java64\"

download the last stable Version and unzip

putt the files in the directory, like:

\\Java64 (or 32) -> Java Portable Files

\\StarMade -> StarMade Files

create a .bat-File with:


set APPDATA=%cd%
SET PATH=%cd%\\Java64\\CommonFiles\\Java64\\bin

cd StarMade
java -Xms2048m -Xmx2048m -jar StarMade.jar -client




you can change the 2048 with your RAM Settings what you want

Not surprised. Java is very cross-platform friendly. It\'s nice to know though. Makes me sad my phone is a piece of crap, otherwise I\'d try this out for sure.

It\'s actually even more portable with the new Windows 8.1 convertible tablet/ultrabooks that have started becoming popular. The Asus Transformer t100 is an affordable option. I play Starmade on the Lenovo Flex 14. The i7 version gives me many surprising options for gaming on the go.

Ive been going to the libary with my flashdrive for a while randomly copying Starmade to the computers. :D
