It occured to me not everyone would think to try this but I have a usb adapter with a micro sandisk (transflash) card and a copy of Star-made on it. I shoved onto the same card a copy of the 1.6 and 1.7 offline java installs and some of the drivers from ATI and nVidia. All in all it's about 2gb worth of stuff. And it's cross platform (except the drivers and java installs) since all I need to do is use the right launcher. Linux usually requires some tweaks to include the mounted device as part of /home (or you can just copy it to the drive and back when you're done). The idea is you keep all your bps and even your sp universe no matter where you go.
