Just checking, as I remember how quickly your scanner charges is based on the longest dimension of your ship versus the longest group of scanner antenna modules. So there's no reason to build more then a single one-by-one-by-however many group of antenna modules except for redundancy, right?

antenna add to both the charge required and charge speed up until 5% ship mass, after this they add to charge speed.
A base computer + antenna charges in ~22 seconds.
Each block up until 5% requires 1200 additional charge, and charges 25 per second (so it actually slows down!).

You aren't going to see a pay off until about 12% ship mass.
Far more economical to go with single block antenna unless its a dedicated docked scanner for high speed scans on things like stations.

It hasnt been based on dimensions for quite a while, but the wiki (if its still around) has the wrong info.

It's just blocks/mass ratio now. And yes 1 comp 1 module is the most worthwhile scanner unless you plan to make a docked scanner or a dedicated scanning ship.

Does "Scanning power" give you a second reason to add more blocks?

    If you make a 1-core, 1-power, 1-thrust, 1-scanncomputer, 4scan-blocks 2x2x2 cube, it's a 50% block-count ratio (mass might differ, but this illustrates the point).
From just the information you gave, it looks like an easy-to-circumvent restriction - so easy that requiring hundreds of blocks on a 10k mass ship is pure mocking of common-sense.

It needs to be reworked for sure, as it stands its like you either make a 1;1 scanner or just build the ship AS a scanner, or just dock 50 scanners to yourself and use ctrl up/down lol. Then comparatively if you're jamming or cloaking, the other guy only needs 2 blocks to counter you if you're in the same sector (to be fair cloak & jam is also just 2 blocks... but thats also shitty).

But a jam/scan/cloak rebalance is definitely planned/in the works :D
