WIP


Updated the Wraith Dart. Replaced advanced armor with standard hull to cut down weight. Improved power generation and weapons systems. Also streamlined the black detailing to make it flow more smoothly. Updated pics/maybe even a video soonish.


Starting framework for the Wraith Cruiser. A bit longer than the measurements in Stargate because my Dart is about twice the length of darts in the show so I could actually have detail, and I want to build my Wraith ships relative in size to each other.
Pic related is the total planned length, with my updated Dart providing a little sense of scale.

It begins....

After many restarts and lots of frustration trying to hand-sculpt the various curves and bevels of the Wraith Cruiser, I have turned to a dark power to advance my building.

I have embraced the dark art of SMEdit.

Here is the raw SMEdit. Apparently it's actually a rather clean SMEdit compared to what some SMEdit's turn out to be in game.

Hour and a half or so into the skinning process. Everything is going pretty smoothly. Thankfully, at this point the SMEdit has been fairly clean and even on both sides, so I don't have to keep going back and forth making sure things line up perfectly. Later down the road I'll have to slow down and take more time checking to make sure I don't screw up one side favoring the other.

Currently it's 600~ meters long and has over 14 million armor HP. This number is going to get a lot bigger as I replace the standard grey armor with layers and layers of advanced level armor. :P

New update!
The skinning of the outer hull is going well! I'm loving the way the hull is curving and undulating right now, especially on the bottom. It's making it look more organic and resembles the Wraith ships from the show.

Tried my hand at converting two of the spines coming off the ship today, I think it went well, but tell me what you guys think!

I also realized that instead of having the yellow lights flush with the hull they work a LOT better when recessed by one block. My previous problem of having way too many lights is fixed by having the lights not ALWAYS visible, and it makes them twinkle across the ship as the camera moves.

I've been slacking on skinning the Cruiser lately, I've been a bit burned out with that part of the project specifically.

Lots of Death Gliders (especially variants seen earlier in the show) are shown with varying degrees of purple coloring across the hull, usually concentrated around the cockpit area. This falls off in later seasons as they become more and more grey/black. I decided to throw in a bit of purple hull highlights to diversify the color of the ship, make it a bit less boring, and also to reference those early Death Gliders.

I don't really have a specific series that I'm focusing on right now. It's kinda more like whatever I feel like building. :P

Right now my short-term focus is finishing the Wraith Cruiser. Whenever I get burned out with that (like right now) I'm just building whatever small ships I feel like. Next up is either an F/X-302 or a Puddlejumper. Maybe a Tel'tak (cargo ship) if I'm feeling adventurous.

Little update today, I've made a simple ball turret for my Wraith Cruiser. It uses a cannon/overdrive system (no secondary slave, to mirror the rate of fire of Wraith weapons in the show) and deals nearly 7000 damage per shot. It sticks a bit when you try to pull upwards and rotate because of some blockers I put in to prevent the turret from being able to rotate into the ship and shoot the Cruiser. The AI hasn't had much issues dealing with it, however.

I've considered replacing the Overdrive effect with an explosive effect, what do you guys think? I don't know how they compare.

I started working on this again! Skinning it is going beautifully, and I found some new techniques to make my work faster and add more variety to the build. Not pictured here is that the older ball turret design has been replaced with my more current design.
