    First up
HELLO (I know its the wrong thread for hello's) :)

I am writing on behalf of spongebob (my son) as he has gone and changed the controls and I cannot for the life of me figure out the default settings. Yes I goggled, yes I searched this forum, yes I cant find the "in game" default reset button, yes I have spent to many hours trying to figure this out, yes I may be stupid! :)

Would also like a suggested joypad layout, if anyone has any suggestions.
The joypad I have is of Microsoft Xbox style, a layout of that plus a combo of keyboard would be great.

Seems strange that a default controls option is not in game??? I MUST BE OVERLOOKING IT!!!

Rep points to those who can help

You can easily restore defaults by deleting the right config file (the keyboard.cfg for controls). Those are located in the StarMade directory.

you can customize it to your liking, so you could make build mode 50 instead of 10, sector size 2500m instead of 1000m[DOUBLEPOST=1411293783,1411293701][/DOUBLEPOST]oh are you looking at default keyboard you can change it too how you like it. I changed the wasd to the arrows for the ship and the player

best controller for starmade (other than a Hands On Throttle And Stick Feet On Pedals full-sim setup, or a Nostramos + flightstick) is a PS3 six axis. While on the surface similar to an XB or 360 controller, those extra degrees of control from a sixaxis REALLY make the difference

I'll share my PS3 binds + standard keys(in parenthesis) for you
Bind ship roll(z/x) to controller twist,
    up/down(e/q) to controller tilt,
    reticule left/right/up/down(normaly mouse) right analog
    strafe left/right, accel/reverse (a/d, w/s) left analog
    primary/secondary activation (left/right click mouse) L2/R2
break (left shift) left analog press
    switch core (up/down arrows) up/down d-pad
    switch camera (left/right arrows) left/right d-pad
    hotbar selection 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8 (L1/R1/triangle/O/X/square/select/start)
enter/exit core (r) right analog press

on an xbox type controller you can do exactly the same binds, except you lose the roll and up/down acceleration options...turns it into more of an airplane simulator than a spaceship sim, but it works OK-ish.

You mention MICROSOFT and "great" in the same sentence?
The company "may-become-inofficial-digital-groverment" which bought MineCraft for just 1/10 it's yearly income? (the dev spent 10 years on it)

    Burn heretic, burn! :D
