I have no idea how funtional this would be in the game or code, but a method to use a decorative block to change the appearance of a block (maybe like a sort of camo-hull). I'm thinking somthing along the lines of being able to decorate the outside of your ship (particularly smaller ships) without adding massive amounts of mass from purely decorative blocks...
having the ability to place a block on a "camo" block, the camo block would have low hp and light mass, and could have any block skin painted on it by droping any other block type on it, so now it "looks" like that block, without the sever loss of mobility of actually adding the more massive decorative block (like if you wanted a hull coated in "purple vine stuff")
If game balance is a concern, possibly have each block have a certain power drain/sec, or a flat reduction in power load capacity
