my idea is to a have a new kind of entities to handle shipwreck. This entity type :decayed ship, would have the property of decayed stations (be bought/repaired to be salvageable) config files like asteroid (stationary/movable), a lifespan before despawning ?
this entity could be used to two things :
- to better ship destruction mechanic : after overeating the ship would be converted to the decayed ship
- to populate systems with shipwreck and ship graves.
we could imagine a little algorithm taking a ship blueprint instance applying it sun damage and system computers explosion could generate decayed ship.
it could be used to generate ship grave were simulated fleet battle occurred. after the battle the server would know what ships got destroyed and could generate the shipwreck from these ships blueprints.
do you think it is a good idea ? do you see any way to improve it ?
