    my idea is to a have a new kind of entities to handle shipwreck. This entity type :decayed ship, would have the property of decayed stations (be bought/repaired to be salvageable) config files like asteroid (stationary/movable), a lifespan before despawning ?

    this entity could be used to two things :
    - to better ship destruction mechanic : after overeating the ship would be converted to the decayed ship
    - to populate systems with shipwreck and ship graves.

    we could imagine a little algorithm taking a ship blueprint instance applying it sun damage and system computers explosion could generate decayed ship.

    it could be used to generate ship grave were simulated fleet battle occurred. after the battle the server would know what ships got destroyed and could generate the shipwreck from these ships blueprints.

    do you think it is a good idea ? do you see any way to improve it ?

    Honestly? I would settle for a system of semi-random chunks of plating, systems and other percentage based goodies that varied depending on the size and number of ships involved. It could spawn as a debris field on the radar and attract pirate salvages as well. While seeing the wreckage of known ships is cool, asking the system to deal with all our weird-ass blueprints may be a bit much.

    Sounds interesting to say the least. SO basically when a ship fully overheats it'll go into a decayed status for X amount of time in minutes? Maybe make it so unlike stations the blocks are still mostly salvageable but small chunks are scrap due to being too heavily damaged. Maybe make it so if a block is under X Structure and Armor amounts it becomes scrap when mined instead of the block it is, but while at or above that value or percentage it is fully minable as is and not picked up as scrap. :)

    As long as that stuff goes on the radar...i mean you tried finding all those clouds of bits from blowing up pirates?
