Damage Overlays

    The cracked overlay currently in-game doesn't really fit a large-scale space style very well. I have made a new set of overlays which much better represent damage to blocks. Instead of using cracks, I have simply created a gradient of black, which slowely gets more opaque as the block takes damage. Combined with current damage patterns, these overlays make blast marks on ships look much better, as they simulate the charred edges around the actual hole.These marks are also surprisingly visible, even on black hull.

    To use these, put the overlay file in ...\StarMade\data\textures\block

    Either back up or replace the original overlays.

    These overlays also look good on any scale. Unlike the current ones, which become messy and blurred on a large scale, these still have the same effect of looking like blast marks. Have fun!

    Nice!! I really like it. Currently I\'m using one that turns the hull orange but I think I will like this one even more. Can\'t wait to use it ingame.

    Wow I love this texture! It really stands out a lot more than the tiny scraps and scrapes did, and it looks more damaging too. Good work!

    I\'d like to see one that replicates melted and twisted hull, but this looks cool too. :)

    I don\'t know how effectively twisted blocks could be represented by a texture. That is probably better left for Schema handle.
