Hi,
Sorry for my english i'm french.
I had an idea about add new blocks : rotative blocks
I find that the turrets build system is limited. It's difficult to build a turret that can easily fire all around her ( Half a sphere of field of infringement by exemple).
My idea is that rotative blocks could allow to build turrets directly included to the main ship or station. They would be configurable to define their rotation direction. Or you could place two of them and then you link them to create the rotation axis. It would allow us to build turrets with mobile canons that could aim upward or downward independantly of the turret main body.
A second good point is that allow us to create small turrets that would be protected by the station or ship shield instead of being focused by enemy ships and being destroyed. When you have 50 light turrets it's pretty boaring to rebuild them every time they are destroyed. And you can't place big shields on them if you want to have real light turrets.
It would also solve a problem that could disturb some peoples. To aim upward or backward, often the body of the turret pass through the ship's hull or station's hull.
To permit the turret to recognize the canons and make them aim on the enemy she would detect every weapons modules in the parts connected to a rotative block. If a part is composed of these weapon modules, that part will aim to focus enemies.
Exemple :
Let us consider the surface of the vessel as being the ground. The turret's body would only rotate to the right or to the left. The canons would rotate upward or downward.
That implies that a turret with a canon that doesn't have a rotative block wouldn't be capable of fire at enemies over her. But I think it creates more possibilities of building.
Let me know what you think about that idea. It could be improved some other ideas or a similar system could be created by another way.
