my god the salt. it's a thread about fps drop, and whether you've got a 300fps machine or 30, you're still going to get a drop.
The salt is from performance getting steadily worse with each patch despite them saying they've made it better. As bad as my computer is I was functioning just fine on 250 segment view range before the chunk update and now get slowed to a crawl at it, meanwhile 100 view range is too dang low to see jack.

the view distance multiplier is different now. before the chunk update, i had my distance set at 10k, now i have to set it at about 5k, and i can still see everything i am used to seeing and a little bit beyond. my framerate has not changed despite added graphical features and viewdistance setting my client is set to.

if you are experiencing framerate drops, turn off some graphical features, and if the 250 is too high, try incrementing down from 200. try whatever seems the closest to 1/2 your original viewdistance setting. reduce texture bit depth, and reduce overall graphics load wherever you can.

another thing that could be happening is thermal throttling, if your computer is running hot. Your computer will slow down its own clock speeds to reduce temperature, and thus also reduce graphical and main processing power if it is hitting its preset max temp allowance. this is common with older systems (my original starmade machine is now unusable due to age and poor cooling, to give a reference)

[QUOTE = "kikaha, post: 311761, участник: 247358"] Framebuffer, похоже, проблема; Я выключил (снял флажок), и мой FPS снова поднялся. Изменение других настроек ничего не делало. [/ QUOTE]

Whenever I disable Framebuffer, I start getting corrupted graphics, that are simply not there when using Framebuffer. Take a look at the black things at the back of the limbs on the purple-and-gray ship.

    With Framebuffer Disabled:

    With Framebuffer Enabled:

    My computer's stats are:
    Intel i5-3210M
Intel HD 4000/AMD Radeon HD 8750M
    8Gb Ram

This problem wasn't there a few years back, possibly the changes to the graphics rendering system did something. The game runs fine otherwise, aside from a terrible framerate (in crowded areas this drops to single digits, normally it's around 20-30, and goes up to 80 in empty sectors).

If your GPU supports framebuffer (and all "recent" ones should), there's really no reason to not use it. Gives you a better performance, and also allows the game to do much fancier graphics as framebuffer allows for that.

I vaguely recall that this render issue was related to the AMD driver itself, although it's not really worth looking into if it's just fine with the framebuffer enabled. As every new graphical improvement lately only applies if framebuffer is being used, it may indeed have broken the non framebuffer rendering for AMD cards. Best thing you could do is to try track down which release version it was still fine and which one it went broken.
I would do this myself if I had an AMD card or the issue to begin with, but I don't :/
