This one's pretty easy to explain; Add some new Sort By options for the community content section of the forum, these would include (but not be limited to) Most Popular, Most Popular (Week), Most Popular (Month), and so on.

Why? Well, it's kinda hard to find a high-quality ship that's up-to-date when porting by Rating because the highest rated ships are mostly from older versions. And sorting by Newest doesn't mean you'll find high-quality content most of the time either.

    More along the same line.

Not just the CC but the entire dock...would benefit from expanded user controls and filters. Starmade has been in development for some time and the dock has collected a vast amount of information and ideas in that time. It will only expand over time. However having tools is not the same and finding them when they are needed. So: lets have more ways to interact with the forums. (Don't get me wrong, I think the SM dock is great but there is always ways to improve.)

Here are some suggestions that would help players avoid double-posting the same ideas & find the info they seek. More importantly these changes could be invaluable to the development team in helping them gauge the popularity of suggestions and guide the setting of priorities.

    1) Sorting choices for threads. At the top of the columns there could be tabs that, when clicked, will change from 'sort by date' to 'sort by number of views, # of replies or more importantly 'sort by # of positive ratings'.

    2) Subcategories. Using search will generate a list of threads that use a keyword. The suggestions category would greatly benefit from the ability to display subcategories for these keywords so that you could browse a list of "ship-building advice" threads or "turret-design" or "weapon-balance". Browsing is the key here. To use search you have know what you are looking for first, but browsing allows for a more casual perusal of a body of information. This would lend some order to a purely chronological record.

    3) Find my post. A handy button to quickly find the posts that you made within a thread. (Like the 'your resources' tab of the CC). To aid in editing, checking current relevance/status of thread and general narcissism. ;)

If you want to find a nice high quality ship that IS up to date, simply search for NCo Destroyer ;).

Been here since the very beginning :)

Not sure what you're asking for, but we've had a system for avoiding double posting since 2014. It's been disabled for a couple of weeks while we fix some issues, but it's been around for a long time. It searches for threads with similar titles (in the threads forum category, not the entire forum) using our search engine, then displays the top 5 best matches.

In this example, Magic Man is about to create a Spherical Planets thread in the suggestions forum. SMD searches in the suggestion section for similarly named threads and displays the top 5 most relevant threads. As we can see, there are already spherical planet suggestions.

EDIT: We've re-enabled this funtion, the issues preventing it from working for the past few weeks have been fixed.

    We also have tags.

You can search by tags, keywords, by user, categories...

Thanks Duke. Like SM, the dock has so much going on its easy to miss things right in front of your face.

    Cheers. :)
