I remember watching "Robotech", may years ago and seeing the "Reflex Cannon", on the SDF1, this was followed by the "Death Star's", main cannon, and then the "Buster/Mega Buster Cannons", from the "Gundam", series and thought of how it would be cool to have a ship with such a weapon.

I have developed a cannon that while not as spectacular as say the Reflex Cannon/ Death Star, may be the foundation of such weapons.
It consists of six beams, each beam consists of 15 outputs, (90 Computers for the main) there are at this time 80 modules per beam computer. I Then linked each Computer to separate Beam computer (Another 90 Computers) each having 80 modules linked to them. I then created a logic matrix to allow each computer fire for it's full duration so that the last Beam in the sequence would finish as the first Beam came off of Cool down. Then I linked different enhancement systems to the weapon, Ion, Overdrive, and Explosive. Thus making a 3k Beam Cannon that will apply constant damage to a target. However, just like the "Reflex Cannon/Death Star you have to move the ship to aim the weapon, also even with 250k e/Sec this weapon puts a strain on the power reserves.

The Axon, Main Battle Ship (50% Complete).

So, what other ways given the current build can this type of weapon be constructed?

I have used an ring shaped rail assembly with activators to mechanically control a logic based missile/cannon: explosive, ion and overdrive. Others on my server were very skeptical until they saw it in combat. The best thing about it being rail based is that I could throttle the speed up and down to suit the situation.

So you basically had spinning missile launchers around your ship? Nice. For a main AMC armament, I'd go with 1 ion and 1 explosive; ion should be 50-60%, explosive should be the maximum effect % allowed by the game. Not sure what that is, but for cannon-ion it's about 60% ion.
For beams ... Idk, but explosive would be a good tertiary choice. They are already excellent at murdering shields, so... should be good for that. That leaves tearing hull into pieces. Cannons are better for that, until you get to the nice soft systems in there, then you want a missile.

No it was all internal and in-line. all three types of missiles came out of the same port in a never ending stream.

Oh nice. Better time it right, otherwise it'd look awkward and get awkward if friendly fire was enabled. xD.

I was trying to avoid moving parts for the most part, but as beams are 5 ticks per sec I just set it so that I could start stop it as needed (Well kind of as I used an "And" block)

Still Ripple Fire Missiles, and Auto Cannons are nice too. I do enjoy how creative one has to become in Starmede to get the desired result.

I've been working on a potential idea for a Death Star (At super-mini scale, of about 1/1000 or less)....because a 1000km diameter sphere would be....well....hard.
