cant play starmade says it is already running

Hope this is the right place to post this and hopefully someone can help. Here is the problem, I was playing starmade in single person, building a big ship next to my home planet and was getting lag. I thought I read somewhere that if you start a dedicated server it can help with the lag sometimes. So i closed starmade and restarted and chose start dedicated server, games seemed like it tried to load but nothing. Now every time I try to start it I get an error saying starmade is already running. Anyone have any ideas?

Singleplayer is just local multiplayer, so when you click \"start dedicated server\" you launch the server part. When you launch a singleplayer game, both server and client are opened on your computer. The simplest solution, is restart your computer, which will close the server you have open.

Thanks for the quick reply but I have restarted and shut down my computer several times and still get the same error even when I just try to play single player without starting a dedicated server.

So I finally figured it out, I had to delete the .lck file in the sever database index folder. Everything is back to normal. Maybe this will help someone some day.
