Cannot place a factory

Title explains it all. Does it have to be on a station? Because on the wiki i don't see a part where it says it has to be placed on a station or anything like that. Can you please tell me what it has to be on?

Factories needs to be placed on either a station or a planet.
I think I remember something about them going to be able to be placed on ships at some point.
But until further you need a station/planet, I suggest station as they lag less.
