Can you add shields to stations?

I saw somewhere that you could add shields to a space station, but everything I have tried doesn't work. I can't figure out how to connect power to a space station, since there is no ship core. I wanted to add power to my station so that I could have shields and a repair bay at my station when my ships have been slightly damaged. Does anybody know how to do this, or if it's even possible?

Yes you can, just place them down using a build block.

Shields and power don\'t show up on the GUI when you\'re using a build block but are still present.

Not the bottom GUI but much better, in build mode you can see the actual numbers for shields and power.

I concur. I have 11,000+ units of shielding on my station right now. It\'s good for a full minute of hammering by a pirate ship. That\'s more than enough time for me to drop what I\'m doing and scramble for my fighter to drive them off.
