Can i fly derelict stations? If yes where is the ship core?

Hi i am new and i have found a really huge derelict station eta ship. My question is, like the title says, can i fly it? And if yes how can i find the ship core? Are there any methodes? I found a constuction block but i can only use the build mode with it.
