Just wondering what happens in this game when you are crazy enough to build near one? It'd be a fun popcorn eating moment in my case just watching people trying to land and not get warped to the other end of the galaxy. Another case would be someone going to attack the station and getting sucked up by the blackhole. :)

In single player I imported a planet sector in a black hole system to see what would happen. The planet was 3 sectors away from a black hole, and didn't seem to be affected by the black hole's gravity (no surprise there). However, any attempts to land on the planet were mixed at best.

In a 3-block scout ship (core - power - thruster), the ship couldn't figure out which thing had the bigger pull on it, so I got out to see what would happen. At that point, the the black hole's gravity won out and I watched my ship fly away, slowly at first, then faster until it was out of sight. It was as poetic as it was disappointing. I tried again with another ship, on the side of the planet opposite the black hole. Once I got out, the ship was pulled into the planet's surface, glitching through, until it also succumbed to the black hole's gravity.

    I don't know if there's a lesson to be learned here. Gravity...sucks?

You know I bet if you built a station directly above a black hole with a warpgate on it you could use it as an epic mass driver. Stuff gets accelerated to insane speeds by the blackholes gravity then goes through the warpgate and comes out the other side having retained said insane speed. You could even use two station one behind the other that warp to eachother so the projectile gets accelerated forever via the old 'shoot a portal on the floor and another on the ceiling above it' trick.

I'm actually working on a "holiday home" on my server like 30 meters from the edge of a wormhole sector. It's definitely possible, and has a heck of a view, however it helps (a lot) to be an admin. You could probably spawn a station in, but if you're building from scratch you'll need a buddy on your ship spawning the first block while you hold it steady. You'll also need crazy amounts of thrust the closer you want to build to the wormhole.

One of the only issues I have is that when you log out, and load back in you aren't aligned with the station by default, so you end up getting sucked out of your station towards the wormhole. Other than that it makes for a pretty sweet base! It's also fairly secure because not a lot of people can accurately navigate to your station while under the influence of that much gravity.

Yep building near a Blackhole would definitely be a team effort. Stage 1 of the construction project should be getting as big a platform as you can going, an area triggered gravity unit, and internal docking up as fast as you can. Making it your home base in a PVP System would be just plain evil too, even more so if the devs ever make shots fired affected by gravity as well. :p A challenge to players that would want to join such a faction could be say, taking a lap around the blackhole as close as they can without getting sucked in and than docking at the station.

It's actually pretty easy to establish an elliptical orbit around a wormhole. Let it pull you in until you're about 2 sectors away, then jump 90 degree from your current position around the wormhole. Slow your speed to adjust your orbit size and it should put you in an elliptical orbit. As long as you don't enter the wormhole sector you won't warp.

Or just let yourself fall towards it in astronaut mode and press M before you fall in.

A wormhole will kill you if you're just in astronaut mode. You'll need to make sure you're attached to a ship. And even then I'm not sure if it places a station if you don't name it in time. It's a lot easier with two people, but not impossible with one.
