Build helper bug while using Shipyard

I've been using the build helper a lot lately, to make circles and toruses. The problem I have is they work great the first time, but the second time I try to use it on a design it auto-selects the ship core as the center and won't let me place the helper where I actually want. To fix this, I have to return to the shipyard computer, unload the design, and then reload the design, then it works again for one use.

Basically I have to reload the design between each use of the build helper. Anyone else noticed this before?
