Recognized Build Blocks need some kind of fixing

    I was on a server with my friends just playing survival and we were on a planet trying todestroy the planet core. my friend put a build block down and started to make a hole that leads to the core so we can shoot it. he made a small 3x3 hole leading to the core, and we tried to shoot at the core but the hole was too small and my friend asked me to make the hole bigger with the build block. when i was inside the build block i realized that i could change the area i destroy with one click and get ridiculous amounts of resources from changing the area that one click destroys and spamming right click and i tought, isn't this too OP? i got lots of money just placing a build block on a planet , changing the area that it destroys and just spamming right click and selling everything at the shop. i think this should be fixed because 1: its so OP 2: it makes salvage beams uselless.

    Just imagine what would it be if someone just hops on a server , buys a build block , goes to a planet and uses the build block like i said earlier and goes back to the shop and sell the stuff and gets a huge ship. this would be exspecially bad on a PvP server. i hope this gets noticed and fixed soon.

    You can't get actual resources from build block removal on a planet. You'll notice that none of the ores or shards made it into your inventory. The potential amount of money you can pull in doing that is a fraction of what build block harvesting used to do with space stations. Players would often have to visit upwards of 10 stores to get rid of all the grey hull.

    The issue is well known and it's already been nerfed. Your server might have a custom setup that buff it back up but it's not easy to build block exploit a vanilla server.

    Just because you can do something doesn't mean you have to. If you have a problem with the build block, don't use it in that way. Simple as that.

    I don't see why you couldn't just shoot down to the core like normal anyway.

    Build blocks are a black sheep of sorts, they allow multiple players to work on a ship or station, or planetary base, but they also allow this mass remove harvesting. We have disabled the ore/shard harvesting when a build block is in use, and we have set randomly spawned stations to need repair before their valued blocks can be ripped away (though you can still take scrap.) I don't know that we will nerf build blocks much further, although we have several options there to do so. Most likely, we will continue to refine the shops mechanics to encourage player trading and manufacturing, instead of encouraging players to convert dirt to shields via "credit alchemy."

    A possible solution here would be to have shops only sell or buy certain types of items, instead of every shop dealing in every possible item. Having shops limited this way would also encourage more player exploration to discover more shops.

    This is actually the next step we have planned, however, currently their is no method to set blocks to be purchaseable from a shop, but not sellable to a shop.

    Nice! Autozone shops (ship items), Bed Bath and Beyond (station supplies), FTD (florals), Blackrock (terrain), Granger Supply (Mfg)....
