i don't understand why people want tools that are only useful for griefing buffed....
As noted in this thread, warheads are used for a large variety of things other than griefing (ramming ships with a cheap torpedo ship). They can be used as the standard torpedo (torpedo launcher), but I have used them in several other ways previously.
    1. Self Destruct systems
    2. Inter ship/station trap
    3. Damage simulators
    4. Admin Warhead knife
    5. Hazardous Area Simulator
    6. Demolition
    7. Bombs
Of course you could argue that this would encourage griefing, but to be quite honest... Try maneuvering a ship with explosive cargo near a ship worth griefing (And those almost always have turrets) without blowing yourself up. Apart from the griefing implications of this block, I feel that its functional use is very important in any game to have a proximity explosive device, even if its use can be viewed in a negative light...

I feel like if someone kills them self in order to get a ship, they should get the ship.

Well, I mean, they should, if they weren't dead :/

    Don't forget mine fields.
Old warheads - with shield bypass - could be used to drop effective mine fields around stations and shops.

Trust me, griefing isn't an option with a torpedo bomber.

My tests showed that without adequate support you will get blown up by your own torps if you don't pull it off just right.

This is a single bomber up against a mid-sized cruiser which had a small escort of fighter/interceptors. 9 times out of 10, my torpedoes were targeted almost immediately after firing, causing them to blow up in my face. If the damage and blast radius didn't suck so much, there wouldn't be anything left of my ship after the chain reaction of warheads blowing up was finished.

I think this is a viable strategy for taking on larger ships using smaller craft, albeit risky and absolutely needing support fighters to pull it off. Your average griefer wouldn't have the time, patience, or friends to pull this off just for the lulz.

Your average griefer has the time and patience to make a cloaker, put some warheads on it, and punch some holes in someone's shiny new ship.

It's players like that who deserve to be smashed with the banhammer. If you're going to use a strategy like that to actually gain some thing from the attack, then fine, all's fair in love and war. It's the ones who laugh about it and log off to avoid being hunted down and properly blown to hell and back that deserve to be violated with an unlubricated pineapple.

I couldn't say it better myself; personally, I believe that is a server's problem, not a game problem...

We don't need the game encouraging griefing, which this does.

I disagree. Warheads being buffed a bit is fine. Through my own testing, as well as Dr. Whammy's, I have discovered that buffed warheads mounted on a ship are at times MORE dangerous to the parent ship than the target. Through sp testing against an alpha pirate station at 50,000 damage a warhead, I found the torpedoes were targeted while still in the magazines and firing tube. The front half of my stealthed torp bomber prototype was vaporized when I tried a dive bombing attack on a turret on said station. With cloakers/jammers disabled on the torpedoes, it's fair. If a player wants to kill himself using a stealthed kamakaze, then he should be able to. But we also have scanners, so...... Warheads should be usable, regardless of grief ability. If every griefer tool was removed, we would have salvagers, and no combat. Complaining about a useful gameplay feature because it might lead to griefing is like saying you can't eat that pizza because I'm on a diet. I very much doubt that warheads will at anytime be a griefers go-to weapon due to the inherit dangers of having a bomb on a ship. Look at the torpedo thread in general discussion to see 500,000 damage warhead impacts. Then imagine that inside your ship, potentially many detonations as your magazine also blows.

So, in short, yes I want warheads to be buffed, and doublly so if the grouping bonus happens

Something like this should be obvious: MINEFIELDS! I Tried to make one, but the mines had to be so densely packed that they would crash into each other and be worthless.

There was talk of a minelayer early on. When slaved it would allow a charged shot.

This is why I setup a minelayer to drop mines far enough apart so they don't kill each other.
