    Diary of my games:

First ship: Flew out of system, ran into a starbase, it opened fire. I died. Lost credits.

Watched a video on youtube, ok now better informed..

Second ship: Flew out of system and found pirates ie. 7 of them. They killed me. I died. Lost more credits.

Third ship: Pirates from second ship followed me (???) back to my spawn point, blew my half built third ship up, killed me yet again, lost more credits yet again.

Pirates (7 of them) camped outside my spawn point killing me repeatedly, lost f***ing more credits (getting seriously p***ed with this game).
Googled the problem and found console commands: 'destroy_entity'.. Cool
Logged back into game and deleted the annoying pirates, things looking up.

Fourth ship: Built it and installed a shield generator, Now things will be different. Went out to farm an abandoned starbase for parts to build my own starbase. Things going ok then pirates turn up (again 7 of them. WHY 7..?) I decide to fight only to find my ship guns do f*** all against their shields and I last about 5 seconds. Die again and lose a ton of credits. Losing the will to live with this game......

Fifth ship: Build yet another ship and scroll carefully through the ship pieces to find a hidden bit call the shield recharger (no explanation for it at all not even a graphic thumbnail). Ahaa, install the recharger to see my my shield at 100%. Immensely pleased I head back out to the system to challenge pirates. With my new 100% shield I can kick ass right..? Wrong!! In seconds my shield is 0% and my ship is taking damage. I decide the better part of valour is to run and I fly away. The pirates pursue me (WHY????) through system to system and then to my unbelievable bad luck I run into another bunch of pirates. There's that many red dots on my mini-map I can't count them.. I die, yet again and lose a s**t load of credits.

Sixth and final ship: Make yet another ship an try another system in the opposite direction. Run into another bunch of pirates and die YET AGAIN.., and lose 491,000 credits..

Logs out and DELETES game from computer..

That's what happends when you don't play the game correctly and be impatient. Also when near a shop, you're protected from pirates.

that was amusing to read, here i will help you..
you play in singleplayer? ok now do everything as I say.
this game is too hard for you i see :P
    • first. go into your starmade folder (if you instal it again :P ) and then open server.cfg file,in it change following:
    • ENEMY_SPAWNING = false [only if you dont want pirates to spawn at all]
    • DEFAULT_BLUEPRINT_ENEMY_USE = false [pirates wont use your big ships]
    • PLAYER_DEATH_CREDIT_PUNISHMENT = 0 [you wont lose your credits]
    • AI_WEAPON_AIMING_ACCURACY = 30 [pirates dont have aimbot anymore]
and as always, this is game in alpha, features, tweaks, bug fixes etc. are coming in swarms very often, this is version 0.159 (far from 1.0 as you see) but i think this game is very good even this early,so i have one bad news for you,you are newb, quiting from a game because you died few times? but i understand your frustration

Don't know what to tell ya. Maybe that I experienced something similar and therefore disabled pirate spawning until being able to defend against them?

While reading this I'm imagening some poorly build ships (as it should be for your first few ships), most likely not that much bigger then the pirate ships themselfs, expecting to win a 7 to 1 fight. Reminds me of ... me when I started playing.

Look at some more vids, learn a bit more about the game, build turrets and maybe a slightly bigger ship then the pirate ones, ...

Or find a multiplayer server and find somebody that can teach you a few things.

It sounds like you've just put single shield blocks and generators on your ships.

Reset your universe before reseting, you will be back in the default state so you can start again. If you are within range of a shop, pirates cant shoot you, yes, they will wait for you, but its a chance to either build a decent ship, or delete them. if you want, protect the sector your are in with "/sector_chmod [sector number] + protected", so you cant get damaged

Also, try multiplayer, pirates tend to have already been blown to hell by the time you get there, its just a little harder to find resources, starmade players are not that trolly, and sector 2 2 2 is usually protected so trolls cant do anything, nor can the pirates

you are admin on single player you could do basically anything if you want you could activate god_mode and never die this is the command /god_mode name true
you can also give yourself lots of credits by typing /give_credits name number
you can restock the shop by selecting it in the navigation and typing in /shop_restock_full
by doing that you won't have to go far to get resources
if you want something to protect you make a faction then type the command /spawn_mobs (ship name) (the id number of your faction) (number you want to spawn)
sometimes your al team mates fire at your ship accidently so be careful.
I hope the commands help :):) and also shields are important

You could try god_mode *YOU* true or turning pirates off in the config, learning how to build decent ships before going in, turning down the pirate difficulty in the screens, gitting gud skrub or replacing the pirate ships with easier ships, staying in a shop's safe zone, getting a real life team mate to help you, getting an AI ship to help you or just download a decent ship from /shipyards.

BTW an awful lot of people agree that pirates are too weak rather than too strong. Shields are the key.

Aw I remember my first days on here...eh the nav was my best friend when I truly learned about it and 7 pirates...try having the pirate go against you 3 vs 1 and the three ships is ur best...I was but hurt from that one...when I built my first real ship (design similar to a star trek shuttle) I was able to handle the pirates ok so long as I engaged them one on one...nowadays I laugh at the defaults. But like the others have said you need patience and look up videos on the game to figure out what you are doing...and yeah I understand the part with the shield regen blocks(brand new but still)

Shame to see something like this, since the only person who can fight in default SP starmade is the player (and sometimes the trade guild) you have to deal with all the pirates yourself.

Although I don't think you'll return (you don't really seem to learn from your mistakes anyway.) for your first time I'd really recommend checking out the shipyard section and downloading some of the smaller combat oriented builds (stay away from most star trek or star wars ships since they are pretty inefficient and cost too much for a starter anyway.)

In the current version I'd recommend beams or tracking missiles. I've had good luck with Missile primary(with beam as the subsystem) weapons thanks to their engagement range and the pirates inability to dodge. I get the feeling I may decide to make a line of semi-ok looking ships for new players to start out with since it's more efficient use of starting cash to spawn a ship in anyway than it is to buy its blocks.

Well have fun whatever you do.

HAHAHHAA, lol exactly what happened to me when I started playing. What happened was that when I started playing shields were a lot stronger so I placed a bunch of them and killed all the pirates!

Also, did you actually buy the game, or just download it for free? Because you can do that right now.

I had kind of the same experience when I first started playing. But then turrets happened... Thousands of isanths have been killed by my fire since then. Git gud or git felled.

I got my ships beaten up plenty of times when I first played, but your not beaten until your dead, so in a game where you just re-spawn you can never be beaten.

I just wished they saved the shop stock replacements for AFTER crafting was added. I'd go for the old exploitable system over this barely functioning one any day of the week. Now those people who hang around just to kill people for no reason are 100% justified by saying "While theres no other way to get credits now!!1!1!!1!111" Plus, mining ships have been rendered useless.
