My idea is that there's a factory that acts like a shipyard, and automatically mass-produces ships in a small area, you pump in the refined materials, and it builds the ships like a factory, mass-producing them. Unlike shipyards, you'd only be able to make small, drone-like ships, and it would be fittable to capital ships or stations.
The idea came from one of a capital mining ship, where it controls a swarm of mining drones that are endlessly produced, which all pool the resources gathered onto the capital ship, and are capable of devouring planets in a short time-spam while looking both terrifying and amazing at the same time. :P
