Blocks not visible at certain distances

Alright, my problem arose after the new textures and before January i'd say. I haven't been playing frequently until now and figured it'd be fixed pretty quick, but it hasn't been so I'm making a post about it.

Basically my issue is that as I'm flying away from ships, or planets, or anything, parts of them will disappear and re-appear. I can't tell what type of planet I'm looking at until I've almost rammed it because I can see straight through to the core. I've tried enabling/disabling shadows, different texture packs, updating drivers, nothing seems to work.

Just bumping this post since it's been nearly 10 days. Not being able to see planets/players at a distance is quite an issue especially in PVP.
