I know it won't be a priority but we could really use a block for this spot. From what I can tell this is the most commonly needed block as I see this particular hole in lots of angular builds.

If you made that slanted area one block thicker, you can use corners to smooth it out.

I don't know what it is called :/ Blockade Runner has a name for it but I don't remember

For now I am referring to it as "The badly wanted angle block"

I call it the 'half-corner' because i drew some sketches of this missing piece - and it looks like a halved corner block.
I may post a sketch here but i need to draw a understandable sketch with different angels of this block first
EDIT: Made a model in blender. It indeed is a half corner:

P.S. While doing the model i came across a good looking double penta! Want to see it?

theres a way to taper slopes. it just requires more space

so yes we do need this block.

I would call it a DiagonA (from Diagonal and Polygon DiagonA because we may later see we also need DiagonB :D)

I think we really need 8 orientation bits and use these for (on non-logic blocks) 8 sub-blocks (1 bit each, all share the same ID).

(using X for front, o for visible-rear, - for empty) If you look at a face and see
    X X
    X X, render it as a block

    X o
    X X, penta

    X - | o o | X o
    X X | X X | X o wedge-side or stair (dependent on block ID)

    X - | - -
    X - | X X, flat wall or or catwalk - dependent on orientation.

    X -
    - X, render it as a flat diagonal hull / ramp (other sides are not different from a wedge)

    X o | o -
    o o | X X, render it as a corner

    X o
    o X, render it as a twisted-wedge

I like the rounded look of the 3 block thick corner edged plane, like Zeno9141 mentioned. However, on one of my builds, I wound up with this same hole, so it would indeed be nice to have. I just don't know if the hole is prominent enough to justify adding a whole other block. It's pretty rare to need it. Although, realistically, I'm sure people will come up with dozens of other uses for any other block shape.

I can already think of a few different applications, including small details and shaping on really small ships :p

Sure, but it'd still be nice to have this block. It would allow for much better detailing in a lot of places.

Figured out another use. If they let you put two wedges together for better paint jobs, this would required to make a better paint job on a slanted surface by combining it with a corner.
    Here's hoping

Not possible, two different blocks can't share the same space.
