I think it would be cool for players to be able to lay down large numbers of blocks at a time. Not super large numbers but something like If Hold Shift and place a block somewhere the spot would be set as possition One and the location in front of me would be Possition two. When you release the mose buttone the area is filled with the block (as long as you have enough to do so.)

There is a button(right ctrl I think but not 100%sure) that enters advanced build mode, which has rotation and a way of changing amount of blocks
