Best setups for close-star travel

    Did anybody made tests for close-star travel? What might be best setups?

    What DrTarDIS said. Last time I read about about traveling near a star, shields don't help you so your ships going to take block damage over time. Its not just one block I think it applies to all blocks or all the ones facing the sun. A good quote from the "green lantern" movie. The bigger you are the faster you burn.

    be small, have as fast a jump drive as possible, use adv armor
    You could probably hide in most (BIG white ones, and blue ones, just stay away) of them for quite a few minutes with a very small well armored ship.
    So long as the server hasn't messed around with sun damage settings

    I've been testing using ships with outside shells made of planet terrain blocks. Not sure how well they work this build but it's worth a test again to see what happens. :)

    I just make my ship fast enough to fly through the sun unscathed. Not the most creative idea, but one that has worked reliably for me.

    Onservers with phsyics enabled, you could potentiality use one as a shield

    After reading this, I did a test using a docked advanced armor shell, and it failed miserably. Sometimes it seemed the damage hit both the shell and the ship at the same time. I didn't try more than one layer though.
