so as of late I have been trying to find a good software for streaming/recording my gameplay, mainly recording. I've tried some various ones, like bandicam, OBS and FRAPS, but none are very good to record the game, due to either the not-so-good quality to the skipping of frames to not picking up the game at all. any help or suggestions would be much apprecidated, thanks.

Shadowplay is rather nice but it requires you have a proper Nvidia card

Doesn't steam have a feature for this?

I use OBS and my recordings are ok. I have Intel graphics so i have to turn framebuffer off and reduce the texture quality a bit, but as long as I stay a away from planets I'm good.

doesnt it only stream to Steam?
it will broadcast to steam only, but i believe it can record locally.

interestingly though, its the easiest way to stream privately as you can set the broadcast to friends only / approved people - which can be handy for artists / clients.

Edit: to the OP, theres also Caffiene (currently free on humble). Havent tried it but for the price of free is maybe worth a look?

XSplit Gamecaster Features seems to be free and is also supported by discordapp.com which has it's own game-store now.
The other supported stream-app is OBS

    Perhaps it's worth a try.

If you're willing to dive in and learn, OBS's advanced settings can really give you some quality recordings. Just make sure you're recording instead of streaming.
