For example, I want to go to spawn, but haven't saved the coordinates so I can't use the quick set coordinates thing. I think you should be able to type in the coordinates and it saves them to your waypoint bookmarks to be a bit more convenient.

But... why would you want to save a location you've never been to and apparently will never go to? If you're referring to faction warfare, you'd only be there once, so not being able to save isn't exactly a big deal.

I dunno, I'm probably missing something.

I live in a place where it's hard to navigate past all the stars in one go, so when a friend tells me to come look at his new base, I have to write down the coordinates, navigate my way into void space, then re-write the coordinates in.

    I'm all for this.

For example, there is a base I not so frequently visit about 500km away. Many times I forget to actually save the coords while I am there, or maybe I will go there only once. It would be easier just to save them on the spot instead of having to go there. I like it when I have a list of all the places even if I don't go there so often.

While i don't find much use for this for myself, i do understand where OP is coming from.

I agree with this. It's really annoying not being able to save custom coordinates. On one server, I was 38 jumps away from spawn, and the server has a custom spawn location. So it's common for people to not be able to get back and ask all the time, "wait, where is spawn again?" If people could just add the location, they wouldn't forget as often. I don't know about you, but I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to save the coordinates without actually being there?

Other uses for saving coordinates without actually being there would be adding ally's bases, enemies, etc. It would allow better planning.

This is a great idea, but hasn't it been already been implemented through the galaxy map? Just select the sector you want to go to and set a waypoint.

You misunderstand. You can indeed set a waypoint by doing so, but the functionality OP refers to is being able to save your current coordinates as a bookmark, which you then have the option to set as a waypoint at a later time. This is a useful feature, but requires you to be at the location in order to save it, which can prove inconvenient.

The OP proposes that we'd be able to save these bookmarks by inputting the desired coordinates, rather than having to be present at the location. This is certainly a useful functionality, especially when one is called upon to quickly travel to a given location.

Oh so like a list of saved waypoints that you can load in and name at any point? Sounds good to me :)

Coordinate bookmarks should also be copyable in some way, maybe to a logbook. Players can sell valuable location coordinates, and friends can give coordinate bookmarks to friends to go visit something cool with just a few clicks.

I agree. The current bookmark system alone is quite limiting altering the config file.
