assemblers/fabricators use power even when idle

OK, so as im sure many of you crafting players know by now, all the factory units like micro fabricators and macro assemblers consume power regardless of if they are in use or not.

so my question is, is this by design? or a bug? i am asking here so i dont clutter up the bug tracker with something that might be by design.

Edit to add: if it is a bug, ill write up a report, so thanks in advance.

not a bug as far as i know
it is always trying to craft weather it has items or not

I definitely consider it a bug. It is really annoying when you don't have enough power reactor modules.

Unfortunately you are right. And here is my standard agree disagree answer:
There should be a config for that

Maybe in the future factory units should get an on/off switch for themselves included linked enhancers. This would also mean they would become controllable by logic blocks. Something that isn't the case at the moment afaik.

I think this is a good feature. Factory-stations should not be combat-outpost-stations too.

Maybe it should be a config as soon as peoples can config it to be placeable on ships too.



The annoying part is if you have a micro, refinery and macro on a planet and are asking yourself why the macro does not produce anything because all power is drained by micro and refinery.
