I am near a star next to a large bandit fleet that consists of about 30 very small ships, and maybe 3 bigger ships. My fps is stuck at 1-3 and my ping jumps up to 230 on single player. I turned all of the video settings as low as they go, including disabling bloom and other effects, but to no avail.

I am on Windows 7 Ultimate, my Java is updated, I have 4 gigabytes allocated to java in the advanced settings, My computer specs are:

    3.3 Ghz 6-core processor

Nvidia 560 TIx2 SLI Video Cards

    8 gigabytes of 2133 RAM

Plexor Top 10 SSD Hard drive

Why might I be experiencing massive fps limitations?

What is the size of your ship? It is likely a collision checking issue since each block is calculated for collisions which can be very taxing on the cpu.

Is it really doing a collision check on every block all the time? That doesn\'t seem feasible for it to run at any decent framerate ever, I\'d assume it does a cheap basic bounds check for the whole ship first and then only goes into detail if that passes.

The ship is not massive, It cost 8 million to import if that gives a frame of reference. It was running fine around planets, asteroids, shops, and other small ships, but dropped to 1 fps around the enemy fleet. My CPU isn\'t ever over 50%, on speedfan It shows the usage per core and i never go over using 3 cores or so
