thats a good idea I had that thought but I thought that would make it to complicated

through a activation gate or maybe ships could be equiped with a controller that could turn on the nearest warp gate

I had a similar problem on my macbook pro 2014 and I fixed it by changing the Launcher settings to run the game using my own java installation instead of the one in starmade (because starmade uses its own version of java by default) and I also turned the intro off as well hope it helps :)

why not instead of making warpgates only go a transport a certain distance why not make it so the distance you can make the gate go is only limited by the power you can give it and when the gate is 'open' the power drains until it goes below the minimum to make a connection to wherever it makes...
