      Power System Overhaul Proposal

I am curious about the reluctance to incorporate a fuel and ammo system into the game. Missile launchers need missiles, AMC's need anti-matter (or slugs, or whatever it is we shoot from them these days), beams need chemicals, etc. There should also be some sort of reaction mass for reactors...

      Why Hunt pirates?

Other than loot, pirates are a good measuring stick for your own weapons and defenses. If you are on a server dominated by pvp, though, they aren't useful in determining your effectiveness (except that if you can't kill them, you aren't ready to fight players).

A Manifesto on the Relationship Between Fighters, Titans and AI

Excellent point about the loss of crew and the risks to your effectiveness. With this paradigm you would probably have your most senior crew in your largest ships, while their replacements are brought in from medium ships - who are replaced by experienced crewmen that managed to survive in small...

A Manifesto on the Relationship Between Fighters, Titans and AI

I posted something similar on another thread, but here goes: I anticipate that the progression would be something akin to the way it was IRL with the ousting of the big surface fleet battleships and the emergence of carriers as the mainstay of fleet warfare. While the battlewagons have the...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Has anyone had cause or opportunity to test a true use of the carrier/drone combat model? What I mean by this is that the true strength of the modern surface fleet (aka: IRL) is the aircraft carrier, and the fact that two ships can have a battle without having seen each other by line of sight...

Read by Schine Semi-vague Lua Computer Suggestion

Not being familiar with Lua, I wonder if this wouldn't be too far a departure from how things are already done in game. I don't think a ton of players will jump ship over an idea that ultimately improves the game, but there will be a frustration with changing a core mechanic so drastically...

You know what is REALLY missing from this game?

Yes, this is a planned feature. Keep in mind that this game is a work in progress.

A Manifesto on the Relationship Between Fighters, Titans and AI

I chose somewhat. I say this because size is indicative of role. You assume that with a limited economy, the empires of our favorite sci-fi fantasies would all build massive ships to rule the stars. Size is determined by role, not just economics. In starmade, the only advantage of being small is...

      Recognized Regarding turrets (logic control)

This. Turret sets to take full advantage of power output and at the same time specialized to roles? "Disable their shields. Stop them in their tracks. Still not dumping their cargo? Enable the siege guns." Also, having a third option to prioritize targets in descending or ascending order of...

Regarding the Leviathan known as "Space Whale"

Ok after typing this, I realize I might be going a bit overboard... but here goes: I like your idea. Would be great to hunt them down for high risk, high reward gameplay. I was thinking about a creature based on a Star Trek Episode: They didn't name the creature (except it's baby, "Junior")...

Rail Collector - Docking improvements and more

Must. Have. Rail. Transfers. Having an active AI might be a good way to circumvent griefing... perhaps active AI's that prevent control, coupled with wireless logic to disengage. Or... keep the griefing enabled and force players to use wireless logic and retractable covers for the rail dockers.
