Zed, I like your suggestions. I don't know how complicated they would be to implement. I think the sector/spawn restrictions wouldn't be too hard, but I'm not a dev.
To the other guys, if you don't see value, you don't have to enable the features... I'm not suggesting that the game itself...

I've been playing on a couple PVE-centric servers. Typically they have custom pirates, some of them are insanely tough. That's fine, but sometimes the nasty mobs spawn too close to newer player areas. It woud be really helpful if future versions of Starmade would allow you to assign sector...
I stumbled across your server right about the time my regular server (ignite) went belly up... and then you disappear for a week? I need to play starmade!!!!

Older player, long time gamer, love these sandbox games but no patience for PvP. Would like to join your server, set up a small base, start mining and eventually provide store services to the general community.

AndyP, I got it working. After 1 more install, I still had the same problem. I finally copied my blueprints folder out and completely wiped the starmade folder and the starmade launcher. Then i went to the site and did a windows install and that seemed to do it. So, in summary, the game-launched...
I have uninstalled java completely and deleted the folder. Then I reinstalled a clean, 64-bit version.
I updated the video drivers for my GeForce GTX 660M, which ran the previous versions just fine.
I rebooted the machine.
I am willing to blow out and reinstall starmade from scratch as long...
I did the upgrade via the launcher. Afterwards I launched a session on the ignite server. The screen came up, but right when it hit 100%, I got a critical error NullPointerException: null.
I revert back to the previous version, then upgrade again. Same thing.
I update java to the latest...
