Thanks for the update DukeofRealms
The simplest take away I can get is, like the rest of us, Schema has gotten older in life and progressively has to focus on what provides a stable life. In his case it's stepping back from StarMade development. In my case it's stepping back from playing...
Interesting stuff.
I'll tell why I stopped playing the game. I got older and priorities shifted. Not much else I can say. I'm not playing any games at the moment. Progress of StarMade is now a passing curiosity.
Blessings the the games continued development. My simple thoughts are for the...
Every so often I check this website to see if there's any update. Some day I'll be greeted with a surprise. The question is, how many more grey hairs will I have?
Tempting me to play. :)
I'm looking at the ship featured in this video.
Way more detailed than anything I've ever built. This goes for shell design, logic and other systems.
Looking at it, I think of an interesting exercise. Scale down the ship as small as possible to keep the basic...
Hi.
I'm no vet. To be honest I've hardly played over the past few years. When I last played I came across the idea of starting with small and abstract models and then scale up. A basic example is to slap a wedge on each side of the core for wings and slant another wedge down on the front to...
I can tell the main reason I haven't been playing the past couple years (aside from playing for the past few days), my own time and life management. To keep playing this game I want to do so in a way which does not consume my life. As of yet I haven't matured enough to do so. Writing out a...
Without reading the whole topic,...
I can see worry and panic that when new players come to this game they'll be put off by some of the buggieness in the games development state. When introducing the game to someone, would it best to first see if they even want to try a game in an incomplete...
The biggest "problem" I see is not really a problem with the future potential of StarMade. It is only our management of our own time. When one considers the scale of what can be achieved with this game one should not expect, or always endeavor, to squeeze everything possible out of it. I'll...
As for me, I've been lurking around in single player for the past two-ish years. Currently I'm looking into the Shattered Skies server to try out the multiplayer deal. The only thing that has been keeping me from playing as much as I'd like is lack of time, not interest.
On the issue of game engine changes. I'm reminded of this game called Duke Nukem Forever. This is not to say changing an engine shouldn't be done but has DNF showed anything if handled poorly it can leave a developer bankrupt with an incomplete game.
My thoughts on round planets. They'd be cool to have in some way but not a necessity. At this stage of the game we are getting closer and closer to the point for features to get locked in and polished. I'm fine with round planets being a feature for StarMade 2 (if there ever is such a thing).
I start with a rough image of "something" in my mind and go from there. No planning beforehand. By the time I get the majority of the outer hull done I'll go back and go back and hollow out scrapped ideas I had previously covered. By the end of it all the ship likely will look nothing like...

While I'd never take this rig online it gets the job done to allow me to play single player. It's sub 1fps town when spawning in on a planet. Patience is required. I run between 15-30 fps...
Reading your post I'm getting a better idea as to the meaning of the question asked in the OP. Since I don't play combat it took a bit to discern what the two sides were saying. I find myself in agreement with what you say. The times I'd like to see something nerfed is when there is...
I don't play combat so all I can base these ideas on is what I've read.
This brings to mind some sort of logic controlled automatic scanner network. This, combined with turrets, could be used to shine the light on pesky cloaked warheads. To overcome this neutral warhead deal, perhaps it...
It all depends on the rules of the server. If I go do a server and the existing player base enjoys picking off new players at spawn I'll quickly learn that. While it causes me grief, I suppose it's all part of the game so whatever. They are allowed to have their little nook so I (and most...
