I really, really want different resource distribution, more tactically-valuable points in space, and more things to do with faction points, but since the devs seem to be focusing on ships right now, why not get all of those mechanics hammered out first?       Eventually I'd like to see a ton of things (Viewscreens, fancy shelves, maybe some generic techy-looking elements, 3D models for the various capsule and rod light items...) but for now, I feel that all we need are a few basic 3D-modeled elements and a few basic new mechanics to go with them...

      ...Yes, and modifying ships in flight couldn't be done by the pilot, either, which makes certain exploits a lot harder. (e.g. spamming large blocks of blocks while being shot at)

      But the only thing that made the core meaningful is that it was a center of mass and death point and entry point for the ship. Entities can move just fine without having a fancy block at 0,0,0 - just look at asteroids! If their diamond isn't over a block, it means there's nothing where the ship...

      Yeah, that and now Salvage/Missile, in addition to being ugly and relatively slow at salvaging, isn't even constant... IMO, that system should be reverted anyway, but eh.

      You can still bomb them and run away, you just need a bomber small enough to take into the atmosphere. As for your mech warriors... What happens if I shoot out a leg? You just lost.

      Yes, it is survive and build... But surviving doesn't mean much more than getting the biggest guns possible and sitting at your base. There's no need or even reason to expand much, or PvP, or even PvE... Once you have defenses you can just sit and build until your hand falls off or your mouse...

      There would be no tradeoff. All it would be is a trivially-small extra system installed on the front of your ship to distract point defense while the real missiles go to work.

      It's pretty easy to overwhelm missile defense with lots of cheap little swarm missiles, or single-block waffleboarded rapid missiles, which would render point-defense systems 99% ineffective...
