Meh, it'd just be a shader effect. Not much more performance cost than just rendering the ship in the first place, or rendering shield hits. (Also, identical performance cost to the pre-jump-drive shimmer effect.)

The first thing I did on the first day that the first (functioning) rail dev build hit was make a tiny test walker turtle thing. I found out about the friction problem and never tried again. Building curvy ships as I do is 'pointless' too, and gimps my ships' combat capabilities somewhat, but...

What would be the issue with TG ships having missiles, though? Just because they "prefer cannons" doesn't mean they can't have their big cannon boat mount one Missile/Cannon or something. I think the only problem would be if, for some reason, someone put beams on their TG ship submission.

Rails tend to be unstable, and mechs use a TON of rails. The only fix to many of the bugs is undocking and redocking, and that is ridiculously hard with mechs. Also they're useless.

I mean effective capitals. It should absolutely be possible to cloak a ship of any size, but as they get larger it should get harder and harder to add other things that work well, to the point where... What's the point in spending tons of resources on something huge that doesn't really do much.

I'd say the shimmer effect should be the result of not enough cloaking modules. :| If battleships and titans are able to cloak under any new system that gets past testing, Schine fucked up. That's not really a concern.

This should apply to weapon/utility computers as well as deco computers.

No, all I'm saying is, it's not a Java problem. It's just the way that StarMade's block structure works. It could have been made differently, at the cost of scalability and performance.

They're just using a different system; nothing to do with Java. Minecraft has something of a 'different system' as well; they have like 4 thousand something IDs, and more than enough metadata space to accommodate whatever the heck you want. They use Java, though.

Forge got it to work because their entire game is the equivalent of one of our entities, just stretched out approximately ad infinitum. The result being that they can afford to use tons and tons and tons of metadata and the game won't really care too much. In StarMade, there's no space for...
