Untold Universe has managed to successfully make sphere planets that function. It's not impossible just highly improbable that the Schine Engine could make sphere planets in a way that is playable

Most modern ship cannons look similar so when converted straight to blocks they all look similar. If you have lots of trouble for inspiration google "Space Turret" :p

You have a much bigger area. Aesthetics are about several things mainly Texture,Depth, and use of blocks. Try to go for a specific style. Lots of people use your classic Naval Cannons with some sc-fi flare.
