Which series are you mostly building after? Im guessing Atlantis since it's there the Wraiths are introduced.

... One person uses the core, the other person uses the build-block. Then you can build together.

Find people that wants to do coop builds. You need at least one build block per person. (unless you are in a ship, the core functions as a buildblock)

._. Well we got this thing called a buildblock that allows multiple people to enter the same entity and use the buildmode. Unfortunately I doubt this works with the shipyards.

This should not only be an option for when building stations but also for when you want to spawn one. I know multiple people have spawned their rather large stations on sector boundaries.
