That's because the Gamma setting requires the framebuffer.

Not only that, but the game has to run a bunch of calculations every shot anyway, unless I'm mistaken; adding a logic output check should only cause a minimal performance impact.

Just change sectors, either by teleporting or just flying to the next sector. If plumes aren't appearing, that SHOULD make them pop up. It works fine for me, with the framebuffer disabled.

For the record, I've tried all kinds of things. Disabled framebuffer, disabled VSync (Increases FPS significantly but doesn't fix the issue), changed antialiasing settings, disabled bloom, disabled/enabled multi-draw optimization, gone into the NVIDIA control panel and reset all my 3D settings...

I suppose this is some of why chain drives are supposed to be removed...
