I wouldn't say it's impossible. As I feel that starmade could be one of the greatest games ever created if it could push beyond these memory limitations and then find ways to improve upon it. I don't feel that the game uses too much memory as is, so if most of the player base agreed it could use...
What would be even better is if starting ships we able to be marked by players who upload blueprints.
In other words, a builder could create a blueprint and set it as a starter blueprint (if it meets certain requirements) when they save or upload it. Make it so the starter ships have up to a...
I think this is a great idea for simple ship additions. There are many rail docking functions that one doesn't ever need to enter. It can be completely controlled from logic and the ship it's docked to. This would apply to large sliding doors made with rails, and many other ship additions. If it...
I actually disagree here also.
I think that by having these premade items you are giving newer players the opportunity to not base their gameplay off of building. That can be learned any time later during the game if desired. If you want to build that's your own initiative, but not everyone...
I actually like the idea of it degrading over time, but not sure it should be irreparable after many repairs. After all if you want to you can keep a car running indefinitely if you know how to fix it consistently. However, perhaps make it more likely to break down or have issues if it is older...
Just so you know, the core idea with some modifications could be neat, if not a little redundant, but my thought is if you wanted to see this useful and not completely OP. Make Plasma blades instead.
Here's the idea:
1) Plasma Blades could act just like the current weapon set. You have modules...
I think we will be getting that extra game mechanic before this would get implemented. That is why I wanted to state that explicitly. I would like to see this mechanic fully functional with this implementation. If that's not possible, I'd still like to see the short version implemented, but then...
This part of your idea is mainly what troubled me. The ships should be paid for and/or built by the shops that use them, they also need space to be docked at shops when not in use. Adding an even more realistic and fluid way for shipping in those close range sectors.
I really like this idea for the here and now, but feel like the finished product of the game should be more player interactive, but in a challenging and fun way.
I like the idea of AI controlled trade ships being built by some civilizations\aliens\players\factions to take on shipping quests. As...
I like the idea, but if a tractor beam were added I think it may seem redundant. Especially with the block ID limit. I'd much prefer the tractor beam thread here instead.
