more options for NPC facitons hav alrdy been suggested but i like your idea for server wide boss battles.
i would add that before the boss pirate spawns all players currently logged on get a message saying
\"A very Large hostile signal is coming out of hyperspace. it will arrive in \"xx\"...
just found this out but all crafting recipes now have static resource requirement.
NO MORE RANDOM RECIPES!
also we now have more special recipes. like creating hardened hulls from normal hulls, changing shapes, as well as changing the color of a hull.
i can see a awesome economy coming...

to change this go in to your sever config and look for this
C_USE_NEW_PLAYER_MODEL = false
and change it to this
C_USE_NEW_PLAYER_MODEL = true

I posted a thread a while back with my idea for a cubatom overhaul. Where the cubatoms would be like a way to create more powerful versions of existing blocks by combining various cubatoms together. The rarer the block the better the cubatoms it will have( L5 ores would have the best cubatoms)...

A while ago the devs did mention that the daves will have customizable abilities. Personal shields as well as other ground game stuff could be one of those
thats the point. station design will play a role. its a little hard for players/NPCs to core drill if theres 200m of hull in their way not to mention turrets are blasting away at them. i expect for players to encase the faction block in hull. its the core and has to be protected.
