I can imagine that powerful weapons would overheat, melting the barrel and causing massive damage to the gun. Maybe the light generators that lasers make could also take damage over time as the laser is fired. That way, a giant plasma minigun would probably explode in your...

We don\'t need to start dropping items when we die for this to work - If you\'re a miner, most of your items would be stored in a plexstorage unit. Those could be raided
I don\'t see anyone being able to rip off a laser cannon off a ship and lugging it around for handheld use, and until that happens, this thread stays about handheld weapons :P

Entire planets covered in factories devoted to creating robots which they export in the hundreds to massive factions to man their security crew...
Seems like too much of a hassle to trade if you have a teleporter, but it\'s the easiest way to get onto a space station or to transfer crew between friendly ships
