That's definitely got some Halo leanings. And I love the big, chubby missile turrets. And getting a look at the stuff you have in the background is pretty cool too.

The first pirate station I stumbled upon was one of the old purple ones. I got out after it put a few holes in my ship. Figured out in that first fight that I had to take out the turrets. When I came back with a bigger ship, the station was soon mine. Not a long or hard fight and the loot...

Smaller mistakes are also less disheartening and easier to recover from. Smaller projects are also easier to discard when you have to. And having a ship yard with several ships under construction looks busy and productive. :P

I'd be interested in hearing about which weapon combos are good. If you could be convinced to speak about it. As for the weapon itself, I think the name sounds better on a direct fire weapon than a missile.

It's pretty much given that each of the NPC factions will build ships. Thus, it may be possible to make deals with them. I mean, we know the pirates and trade guild build ships... and they had a great big ... guess what? ... ship building contest for NPC factions. So, uhm... evolutionary...

That's a decent idea. But I tend to lean towards a minimalist approach when it comes to RP stuff for ships.
