Combining the planet bubble idea with an orbital bombardment effect module could potentially solve problems. So basically, the effect would make weapons able to pierce through the planet protection/atmosphere bubble and deal 100% damage to planetary installations while at the same time reducing...
Having the ability to create automated ship functions, we can't even do that in KSP! Here's a good example (automated docked drone rack launches for the epic win):
Indeed! I had something similar in mind to the content of your edit. I just wouldn't know where to put them on my ship (ok, that's a big fat lie, I just thought of an ideal place while writing this).
It would work really well with something @NeonSturm suggested earlier. Basically, you could have a thin rack of 5x5x5 cube drones like you said. The entire thing would be contained inside the ship (no doors on the outside) or be held on the side. On activation, the ENTIRE rack gets pushed...
It just occurred to me about how FRAKING MASSIVE my ship was... I was just walking around in the (fairly enormous) core room and proceeded to get back into the core. I zoomed out and noticed just how small the core room was inside the ship... Seriously, I'll have to make a size comparison...
So, there's still some stuff to do on the exterior but most of the essential stuff is in place (yay!). So I'll be moving on to interiors now! First off, a shiny core room (my first interior ever XD ).
FINALLY something that I can dock my ship to without dwarfing it!!! I wish you lots of patience in this massive endeavor, it'll be incredibly impressive if you complete it. Probably the most impressive thing ever built in starmade.
Good luck!
I confirm that they can obliterate cruisers on their own :p . The ship will also have two drone cruisers docked inside. But honestly, it's a warship (as if it wasn't obvious with all the guns sticking out XD ) and therefore shouldn't be taken lightly. I'm intentionally making it a weapon of mass...
Why not? Just have a player pay with a certain amount of items! He'd just have to drop them into a plex storage to activate the chargers (all hail plex storage logic).
