You should take a look into space engineers schema maybe you can take some hints from them because their game looks such cool. You should add like ramming so when you ram someones ship yours and theirs literally collide and take serious damage

Well I was thinking about how whenever you get close to a sun it damages your hull. Well why don't they add a shield that can go through a sun but only for a small amount of time(Depending on how many of it you use) and then add like a solar pannel or something that can get energy from the sun...

You should also add some escape pods too jsut sayin
