I've never used docked reactors, but I thought it was quite cool to think that somebody build a technology in a game that did not have it natively.
I like the idea of a component based ship, where you could physically connect/disconnect a system to cause a functional/mechanical effect. Docked...

I like that idea. You could add it to the existing ability to rotate the pasted object. You could simply add another 1-3 keys to press that works with the mouse wheel to give you the ability to move it in the 3 planes.
I say 1-3 keys because;
1 key could be used to step through the planes...
This is a great idea! It would simplify the whole process of downloading and importing.
I'm not sure it needs to be a shipyard component, but certainly a component of the game itself.

I certainly want hotbar controls, if not something similar. Having a list you can drag to the hotbar would be awesome!
The great thing about the ability to turn them off is to disable systems that could kill you.
I would also like a means to control what systems draw power or a means to granularly direct power to systems.
Does this exist already?
That way, you could have more fun with power/systems management...
This reminds me of games like Tribes, Battlefield etc where you have two factions with tech on each side. Defence tech in the form of bases already equipped with turrets etc. Attack tech in for form of limited numbers of vehicles that can be spawned at once, but if destroyed can be spawned again...

maybe it could also have a logic function. Not sure what. Maybe a relay that passes on the state of the sending block to blocks slaved to this block?
Saber, I noticed dropping the Torch in game it displays as the Laser.
How about NPC's doing stuff. I would love to see things like, them manning stations in ships and stations or doing a task like farming, interacting, etc. Just doing stuff on planets, stations and in ships.

A rocket doesn't matter which way it's displayed.
My factory was playing up and I eventually figured out why, because of low power. I have a power reactor that doesn't reach for the sky, but the top exceeded the boundary and naturally was chopped off. I wasn't too worried about it, but naturally don't get all those power reactors and capacitors...
