Seems pretty rough as far as whole idea goes but I like certain aspects that it will add. Overall it seems that building systems this way will provide for interesting considerations. I also like that my ship won't have the be full of systems like a space jelly donut. I always hated looking...
How about the scav and other npc factions clean up ships database side. Then in the future I hope we can send salvage fleets to do the same thing. If scrapped ships gave back some resources this would be another form of resource collection for factions.
This seems to me like the way to go. No matter where the modules are they should effect all docked entities. I think it would be an improvement to the system all around. Sadly this wouldn't address many of the exploits with docked entities but it is definitely an important part of it.
I'm american so I like freedom. This game has a lot of it. Space engineers and Empyrion I both play but I enjoy the building in Starmade more. I can make whatever I want and make it look however I want.
What would you even make the stats. Now you would need to balance volume with amount of blocls taking damaged. Not looking forward to any more balancing issues. We have enough to worry about.
For me personally I just would force myself to make any system that I thought was cool. Its similar to learning math, you just need to practice solving various problems until it is intuitive to you. I remember watching those videos myself. At first I could only replicate the systems I saw but...
Yea the standard jump always seemed a little excessive to me. I don't think they should tone it down though, until they provide a way to move around better as an astronaut. Might as well leave it be for now and then scale it back when we have a jetpack or something.
Lol this is just getting stupid now. In the other thread nobody addressed the actual balance issue. If we can agree what using is then maybe we can arrive at a quicker and easier solution. I think the people that are pushing only the lag issue are ignoring a clear gameplay issue.
As others...
My way? What exactly is my way of building ships? Maybe everything but using docked entities to break limits that the dev put there. I knew when I used docked power and shield generators they were eventually going to be patched out. I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money that the same is...
How is the intended use of the DOCKING system to build an entire ship in separate parts to circumvent limits made to stop you from doing what are doing? I would assume if schema wanted us to use separate entities EVERY TIME we built a ship he would have pursued that in terms of design. Again I...
The whole point of the 2 mil cap for power is to keep ships from getting exponentially more powerful. If you can just plop down more entities that can still run at max efficiency, that is essentially free power with only drawback being extra weight. You gain all this extra fire power and it also...
Why are you guys ignoring this idea. It seems to me like the easiest solution. It doesn't fix the docked hull issue but it should address people making ships like the Arbalest that I linked to.
Shadow2Lead And this guy's idea too.
Wow this thread has got out of hand. I don't understand why we have so many varied suggestions. I get that the current system isn't balanced but if we change the mechanics too much then it will be hell to balance it still. I really feel that something like a weight reduction or scaling AHP...
I like this idea. It would be really useful for getting support ships to behave as their role intended. I agree that the AI is pretty dumb and I wouldn't want schema to have to do all the work. Give us a great system and we'll have everything we need!
If this was a serious tech tree that you had to climb, all the top factions on a server would have a much easier time staying king of the hill. I would like some sort of research based mechanics to the game but there's enough R&D in the game already it might be pointless.
Oh you mean ships like this. Yea I totally agree that something needs to be done with builds like that. It just breaks too many mechanics of the game. Maybe power should just be calculated in way that takes into account all power blocks on all docked entities. Taking away docked power would make...
My point is weapons that do raw damage would really be all you would need with a system like the OP described. Having weapons that focus on block destruction would be a detriment until the very end of the battle. The most effective weapons would be a simple single group weapon that just pounds...
