I thought you were MEANT to use the old school checkerboard mining array? I've been using it for ages and I don't think it's an exploit. Even with 300 modules it takes me 5 minutes to mine an asteroid fully. If it was removed totally I'd go back to using cheats. Mining is boring enough is it is.
