I wouldn't ever count on getting smaller blocks until big-time modding becomes a thing. A really cool guy made this thread which you might find interesting: http://starmadedock.net/threads/grid-based-logic-computer-system.7943/
Saying things like "just don't have logic circuits on small ships"...
Suggested long ago by calbiri, basically outputs a little extra juice over the normal reactor but acts like a Warhead if hit.
I do like the idea though, as long as it doesn't output a lot more.
I didn't mean that the tiles would have to be right next to each other by "grid-based", I could see how that would be confusing. Just that the tiles would be aligned to a grid for organization purposes. You'd have lines connecting what you wanted, you could freely space stuff like a wiring diagram.
I suppose I haven't explained it too well. It would work just like a normal circuit but on a different plane. You independently bind any of the tiles in the grids to anything that accepts logic on the actual ship, and vice versa. You're just segregating the ANDs ORs delays and whatnot from being...
How would it be different from anything you can make now? The grid would be limitless. The idea is to remove the need for a bunch of logic blocks on your ship and design circuits on a 2D plane (and possibly save them separately from your ship).
Great idea.
Also, give us an actual graphic. I wouldn't even mind a scaled sprite as a placeholder, just something more than some light. Variation of the planet core design?
- server.cfg option to hide home base locations in faction hub
- server.cfg option to not display non-allied claimed territory on galaxy map.
(Can we hide warp gate routes yet? If not that needs to be an option)
These options would allow more interesting server dynamics. Scouting/exploring...
You wouldn't be limited by the columns and rows. They are simply there for uniformity in the GUI. You can bind whatever/wherever to whatever/wherever. A circuit is easier to design in 2D.
1) Mass comes at a premium in starmade, especially on smaller ships. Having any sort of messy looking...
I have a feeling most players aren't going to want to learn to program to make starmade logic circuits (although I admit it would be cool). This interface is as simple as it gets.
It sucks to take up a bunch of mass and be messy to do neat things with the current logic system.
Just have a single computer block that allows you to craft a circuit in a 2d grid menu. Obviously would need a lot more fleshing out. Would be neat to be able to save logic circuits like as...
