      this ship looks like it would be a great escort cruiser for a carrier. plenty of emplacements for turrets and inter-ship transports... i was on the fence about downloading it before, but i think i\'ll download it now that i\'ve seen the new pictures.

      weapons computers being limited is a good idea shotgun arrays are overpowered. the dps of a gun of 100 blocks should always be greater than 100 individual blocks or else there\'s no point in building grouped blocks at all if all you\'re going to do is shot-gun everything to death.

      an issue is that a large shield stands no chance against a similarly sized but smaller weapon. there are turrets hitting several million dps and instnantly killing larger player ships (up to 4.4 million blocks) with the dps and number of shots so high.

      update: a lot of work done :D upper hull exterior is finished incl all the turret emplacements that are to be on the top. the turret emplacements on top (inset turrets) might be expanded for bigger turrets if i deem their power to be inadequate.

      what if the large ship has a thrust-mass ratio of 5 to 1 vs a fighter\'s 1.5 to 1? what then? are you going to say the large ship shouldn\'t accelerate quicker when physics clearly shows that thrust/mass is the rule in acceleration?

      i agree that turning rate should be affected by the dimensions of the thrust footprint and the distance that the output block is from the core (torque=force on a radius) as well as the overall power of the thrust group (to make my 500m ship turn slow even though its ratio is 50k thrust to 14.5k...

      spheres specifically... physics-wise. space ship designs that are long and thinner in width and height tend to be for frontal-assault only most the time in sci-fi, and for good reason (turning would take forever)
